To oer assistance to these residents, a growing number of neighborhood associaons and residents’ councils are seng up Onegai Group–Makasete Group assistance programs.We need to make sure that we regularly check in with the Onegai Group and Makasete Group members in the neighborhood so that we’re prepared when the me comes.It would be great to get as many people in the Makasete Group as possible. I hope the community comes together for this one—especially our younger residents.We need to decide in advance what condions will kick the evacuaon assistance into acon and where people will be evacuated to. The rst thing we need to do is gure out exactly how many people there are that need assistance (Onegai Group) and how many are willing to oer assistance (Makasete Group).More on Onegai groups and Makasete groupsMembers of the Onegai Group are those who would have diculty evacuang on their own and would require assistance should Toda be at high risk for a major disaster like an Arakawa River ood.Members of the Makasete Group are residents who are willing to assist members of the Onegai Group in an emergency.Assistance programs that use the Onegai Group–Makasete Group framework are run by the local neighborhood associaons and residents’ councils.
